Hi

I have managed to get the system up and running but get the following error when trying to log in to the radio:

Security Error->Security Violation: Cannot load data from host. (Error #2048)

Any ideas?

BTW - this does look a pretty cool system but the documentation is pretty poor or out of date (even the windows guide I eventually found on the download page seems to refer to a completely different version of software).  It's taken me 2 days to get this far and I consider myself a pretty competent PC user and already had HRD up and running...

I was perhaps a bit harsh on the documentation and will try to put together a dummies guide based on my experience once I have it running - pretty much as I did with the Radiomobile propogation software in the early days  Smiley

Further investigation has shown I get the same error code when trying to use the basic RFC HTTP server.

And google tells me it is a very common error with flash and cross domain servers, whatever that means.  I'll try to learn more but I'm way out of my depth so any help appreciated....

A little about this error "Security Error->Security Violation: Cannot load data from host. (Error #2048)"

The Flash based client uses "flash.net.Sockets" to connect to RCForb or the old RCFserver. Flash "internally" checks some security permissions before attempting a connection over "sockets". When using Sockets, Flash will load a "security policy file" from the server on port 843.  If port 843 is closed, you will see this security error. The security file sent to the Flash client contains details telling Flash which "domains and ports" may connect to the server its trying to establish connection with. Its like an internal firewall system, allowing servers to block flash based clients on certain ports etc.

Google may say its a common error, as many people don't get this "security system" implemented properly, or a security file server may not be responding or the xml based cross-domain-policy cant be found.

The reason you see the error on RemoteHams is b/c of ports being closed. The latest version RCForb v0.7 has the ability to test if your ports are open; If not, you will be given an option to be hosted through a proxy server, bypassing any firewall/router. (This is still experimental..but several radios are running through the proxy on the site now...)

RCFserver is old, old, old; and support will be dropped by the end of this year possibly.
RCForb is the new project replacing RCFserver.  RCForb started v0.5, v0.6, now at v0.7

RCForb v0.7 is the latest You can find the download link here.
http://download.remotehams.com/orb/RCForb-Setup.exe
(This is the only reference to it right now, we've been testing it internally before public release.)

RCForb v0.7 wants to use these ports by default  (843,943,4525)

If you do make a dummies guide, please make the guide for v0.7; and post under Documentation in the forums here.

Hi

Thanks for the help and offer of support - I made sure port 843 was open but still got the error message.

However, I downloaded RCForb - AWESOME - easy to install, upgraded HRD, checked and opened the ports and it worked!

Not even sure if I need write the dummies guide...

Off to play with audio and rotator now ;-)

I presume I can delete the SQL database from the PC now???
