Barney got my radio online several years ago, but that was two computers ago and the requisite software has changed.
I tried following the documentation in SWLog (which I found very poor) and in this forum (which was better but still incomplete) and ultimately had to perform a system restore so I could use my radio again.
No offense, but wouldn't complete step by step directions encourage more than five people on the planet to share their radios? For Bob's claim that RCSweb is now "easier to publish," I notice that he's the only person using it, and since he closed his support forum, I doubt anyone else will be able to.

Setting Up RCForb Step 1: Download and install the latest RCForb (Find latest version in forums for now) http://download.remotehams.com/orb/RCForb-v0.5.3940.exeRCForb uses its own built-in database, so no need for MySQL or PostgreSQL anymore. The only requirement is the .NET Frameowork 4, which the installer checks for and will try installing upon your request if need be. Step 2: Run RCForb, you will be asked to login with your RemoteHams.com account on first run. Once that step is complete, goto "Radio" in the main menu and click on Configure. You will be able to setup a connection to your radio here, either through Ham Radio Deluxe, Shortwave Log, or directly (Only FT857 supported directly) Step 3: Configure Your Audio. This is up to you how to stream your audio, everyone seems to use Unreal Media Server and Unreal Live Server together. Which you can find a tutorial step by step here http://forums.remotehams.com/index.php/topic,16.0.html Step 4,5,6,7,etc.....There are more steps but this will get you started, your radio is automatically published but in owner mode, you can change it to public mode so everyone can see it online by going to the Publish tab, you can also fill out your Remote's details on the Publish tab. I hope this gets you moving in the right direction. You will also find an overview of the RCForb here http://forums.remotehams.com/index.php/topic,300.0.htmlUse this post like a support ticket if you need more help just reply back....

Thanks, kg6ypi. I got to step 2 and the guesswork began.
On RCForb, I went to the Publish tab and changed Remote Open To "everyone," then pressed the green "Enable Tuning" button, then went to File>View Your Remote, which brought me to the Sample Radio page requiring me to log in to Remote Hams, which then gave me the dummy radio description from the Publish tab on RCForb. I have RCS running, but cant tune it from the dummy page.
On RCS, I went to Preferences, then the Internet Publishing tab, clicked the "publish receiver" tab, hit Save, got the "RCS must restart" message, and RCS won't work after that because it can't access the Com Port that the radio is on, and ultimately I did a system restore to get the radio working again.

Jim, one crucial thing that needs to be done is to open port 843 to the outside world, this is for the Flash policy server and without it the flash window will fail to load. When you say RCS are you talking about SWLog RCS? If so forget that for the moment as you are running the dummy radio and that'll be using the same port, once you have RCFOrb working with the dummy you can then configure it to connect to RCS by the IP server. The COM port setting is only for direct connection to the radio when uisng with SWLog or HRD you use them as normal but RCFOrb connects via the IP server that they both have. HRD 7809 and SWLog 4502. You don't publish the radio through SWLog RCS only through RCFOrb.

Thanks, Barney.
Do I add an inbound or outbound rule for the port? Is it TCP or UDP? Do I set it for corporate, private or public networks? Or do I add an inbound or outbound rule for a specific program?

Thanks. I added firewall rules for inbound and outbound TCP on ports 843, 943, 4502, 5119, 21687 and 21688 (which includes the ports the SWLog help file says to open.)
With RCS running, when I launch RCForb it says the Flash Policy Server did not start, the Silverlight Policy Server did not start, and it can't connect to the radio because "only one usage of each socket address is normally permitted."
Under the Radio Server tab, it's set to listen on port 4502. If I click Start it says "error connecting to radio."
Under Radio>Configure>HRD/SWL I have it set to Shortwave Log/localhost/4502.
If I click File>View My Remote, I see my IP on the webpage, but RCForb immediately crashes.
I get the same behavior whether running RCForb with administrator privileges or not.

The Silverlight policy will not start as SWLog has its own built-in Silverlight policy server, since your using SWLog. The Flash Policy server should start. The message about a socket address being in use, means RCForb or some other program may already be using the port. (843,943, or 4502) any one of them.. Under the Radio Server tab, it's set to listen on port 4502. If I click Start it says "error connecting to radio." Under Radio>Configure>HRD/SWL I have it set to Shortwave Log/localhost/4502.
Does SWLog have publishing enabled? Can you use Ham Radio Deluxe? v4 or v5 If I click File>View My Remote, I see my IP on the webpage, but RCForb immediately crashes. I get the same behavior whether running RCForb with administrator privileges or not.
RCForb should be ran as an Administrator. For the crash, do you have .NET Framework 4.0 Full profile installed?

Looking under Control Panel>Programs and Features, I see .NET Framework 4 Client Profile and .NET Framework 4 Extended installed.
On RCS, if I go to Preferences, the first tab is Internet Publishing. If I check the box that says "Publish Receiver on shortwavelog.com and remotehams.com" and then hit Save, RCS will say it has to restart (there are other fields on this page, such as "Title" and "DNS Name or IP Address," but they are all blank; the only things filled in are Communications Server TCP Port: 4502 and Streaming Audio TCP Port: 21688.) RCS will not be able to restart, however, as it will say it is unable to connect to COM4 (the port it's connected to.) I will be unable to use the radio again until I perform a System Restore on Windows. So, the "Publish Receiver" box is not checked.
I don't remember ever trying Ham Radio Deluxe.

Ahh, change the Radio Server port in RCForb on the Radio Server tab from 4502 to something else like 4525 or 4503, etc...then chnage the port in your firewall/router. RCForb connects to SWLog using port 4502 to communicate, so for ShortwaveLog users RCForb's Radio Server can not listen to the same port. and the radio connection part should have port 4502 and shortwave log picked

Thanks. I added a firewall rule allowing inbound TCP on port 4525, and on the Radio Server tab entered 4525 after "Listen on Port."
When I hit Start on the Radio Server tab, I still get "Error connecting to radio" because "Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted."
I ran cmd and entered netstat -n, but don't see anything connected to any of the ports we've mentioned.

If there is an error connecting to the radio the radio server wont start, so you wont see anything listening on por 4525... If you wanted we could try desktop sharing and I could see the problem easier I'm going to be busy today working on purchasing a home. Contact me on skype "hellcat4891", if i'm around i'll respond. TeamViewer seems to work easiest for desktop sharing, unless you have something else setup already.....

Today when I started the computer, I tried RCForb and the Flash Policy Server ran and it connected to the radio.
I hit File>View Your Remote and RCForb crashed.
I launched RCForb again, but the Flash Policy Server wouldn't run nor could it connect to the radio.
I closed it and tried running it again using administrator privileges. Same result.
Then I went to Task Manager and found three instances of RCForb running. Apparently it doesn't shut down when it crashes or when you close it.
I killed them all and launched RCForb again, with the remote web page open from before. I refreshed the page through Firefox and was able to tune the radio.
So, having gotten through the convolutions of Step 2 finally, I'll move on to Step 3.

I got the audio working so I can hear it on Realplayer.
How do I update the info on the remote page so it has the description I entered on the Publish tab and shows the audio link?
I've tried several things but it still says "Sample Radio."

Whenever you update the Publish tab with a new Description or Name for your remote, you have to click the "green arrow button" to enable/re-publish your remote. or restart RCForb. Then you have to refresh your web browser to see the new details.
I will have to look into the crashes, Since view your remote is not working. You can always see your remote on the website when you login to your account. There should be a "your remotes" area in your profile.
